Free Comic Book Day

FREE COMICS? YES, IT'S TRUE!

Nearly two thousand comic book shops across the continent and around the planet will be celebrating Free Comic Book Day on May 6th, including Portland's favorite shop, Bridge City Comics!

"This will be our first Free Comic Book Day and we're really excited about it," said Bridge City Comics owner Michael Ring. "We expect people to start lining up at 11 a.m. to get in on the fun and get FREE COMICS! Stop by Bridge City Comics and join us for a great day of comics!"

Close to 2 million comic books will be given away by participating stores, and visitors will find the traditional super-heroes, crime fighters and much more. "The wide array of comic books published today ensures that readers of all ages - children, teens, and adults - can find something appropriate that will stir their imaginations," said Ring. "Come by on May 6 and let us show you what's out there!"

Check out your favorite superhero or villian in Star Wars, Justice League or X-Men / Runaways! Another great compilation of comics available on Free Comic Book Day is Images's Future Shock. Get one comic and find eight brand new, four page scenes from eight ongoing comics! Archie Comics, Simpsons, G.I. Joe, The Transformers and Disney's Uncle Scrooge are familiar favorites that will keep readers entertained for hours.

Free Comic Book Day kicks off at 11 a.m. and runs until 7 p.m. at Bridge City Comics, located at 3725 N. Mississippi Ave., Portland, OR 97227. Call 503-282-5484 for more information.
