CELEBRATE FREE COMIC BOOK DAY WITH BRIDGE CITY COMICS ON SATURDAY, MAY 5!
Bridge City Comics in Portland, OR is one of thousands of comic book shops around the world celebrating the comic book art form on Saturday, May 5. On Free Comic Book Day, close to 2 million comic books will be given away by participating stores, introducing as many people as possible to the wonders of comic books!
"The wide array of comic books being published today ensures that readers of all ages - children, teens, and adults - can find something appropriate that will stir their imaginations," said Michael Ring, owner of Bridge City Comics. "Come by on May 5th and let us show you what's out there - for free!"
Now in its sixth year, Free Comic Book Day has proven to be a smashing success, spreading the word that comics are terrific reading. "Even if you have never picked up a comic book, stop into Bridge City Comics, because you never know what you will end up finding!"
In addition to dozens of free comics available during the day, Bridge City Comics will also host an autograph signing with one of comic-dom's favorite writers! Adam Gallardo (writer of 100 Girls and Star Wars Infinities: The Return of the Jedi) will be signing and talking comics during the day from 11am - 2pm.
"We at Bridge City Comics want to spread the word that comics are alive and well in 2007," Ring continued. "Comic books and graphic novels are considered hip, hot and smart." Comic books have sprung to the front ranks of pop culture, many being adapted into movies. Spiderman 3 hits the big screen on May 4th, the day before Free Comic Book Day. "The first weekend of May is going to be a big day in the comic book world."
